The Graphic Editor is the base for any operations that are performed with the data in Foreign Keys are used to connect different tables of your data model. It gives you a graphical map of all tables with their foreign-key relations, which link the single tables of a data model together.

To use the tables for an analysis in CPM 4, you need to define relations by using primary - and foreign keys.

The Graphics Editor shows your current connected tables and allows you to assign the relations between them and which of their columns you which to display. You can also freely move the tables with Drag & Drop without affecting their relations.

Import data: add new data tables to your analysis (see the Importing Data section).
Activity table: activity tables are the basis for your Celonis analysis. They contain the necessary columns of 'Case key', 'Activity', and 'Event time'. Activity tables are identified by the Image Removed icon. 

The 'Keys' section provides an overview of all connections in your analysis and allows you to create new ones.



Foreign keys list

The Foreign keys list displays the assigned connections between the tables in your data model. 

  1. Add foreign key: create a new connection between two data tables (see 'Add or edit foreign key' section below).

  2. Search: search a table name to look for foreign keys assigned to it. 

  3. Connected table 1: the first element that composes the pair of connected tables.

  4. Connected table 2: the second element that composes the pair of connected tables.

  5. Delete: deletes the foreign key. You must hover your mouse over the desired key to display this button.

  6. Edit: edits the foreign key (see 'Add or edit foreign key' section below). You must hover your mouse over the desired key to display this button.



Add or edit foreign key

The Edit foreign key screen allows you to create or modify existing connections between tables. 

  1. Table 1: here you can select the first table you wish to connect.

  2. Table 2: here you can select the table you wish to connect Table 1 to.

  3. Foreign key column of table 1: select the foreign key column that corresponds to the column of table 2.

  4. Foreign key column of table 2: select the foreign key column that corresponds to the column of table 1. 

  5. Add another connection: if more than one foreign key is necessary to connect these tables, click on the 'Add another connection' link to add one more foreign key selection row.

  6. Delete: click on the icon to delete the selected foreign key pair.

You can also add foreign keys relations directly on the Graphic Editor.

Case table: case tables contain all information about your cases in the event log. They are identified by the Image Removed icon.
Data table: other raw tables containing relevant information associated to your analysis. Raw data tables contain no icons.
Foreign keys connection: the golden lines represent the foreign keys used to connect your data tables.  search for activities and data models in this and on other project folders. 
Add new foreign key connection: click on the key icon to start the foreign key connection process.
Search column: use the search field to look for a key column.
Settings: click on the settings icon to open the table's properties (see Tables section)
  • Expand/collapse icon: click on the icon to show (or hide) all available columns and to graphically assign foreign keys.
